Subbed only, as I think (and I may be wrong0 funimation holds the rights to the english voices, so in order to use them bamco would probally have to pay a pretty hefty fee to funimation to use them, so much so thats its probally not worth it.Its not that they don't want to, its just thats its not economically feasable, besides, why would you even want english VA when they can't even act and generally ruin characters? The secret of mana english dub was abyssmal compared to the japanese one, characters sounded completly diffrent, Luka in the water palace as a prime example of how jarring it is between the japanese and english voice overs. Premiere says 'Hai' which is yes and japanese, and they somehow turned that into a 8 word thing. Its called being too liberal. I think anyway. I notice this happening the most when it involves premiere, but the question is, was the japanese version the same way? We'd have to compared the 2 scenes and just look at the text, in Japan Hai i think is 1 or 2 characters, so if thats all that is there, then yes the english version overly extended it.I myself feel it feels akward as I've picked up some japanese over the years, and seeing 8-10 works in text when someone just said 'yes' or 'ok' really feels off to me.
There is also the aspect that maybe not everything is voiced. Maybe in the orignal japanese text it went up for just as long. When translating alot of the time they just have the script and don't actually see it being used in the game its from. In which case its not exactly translator persons fault.
Originally posted by:DBZ i agree with you on, mostly because goku doesn't sound like a girl in the dub, but the other 3? Their dub was garbage compared to the orignal japanese voice.Eren's voice is amazing :( Ichigo's voice gets so intense around episode 100.1 Char being good doesn't do it for me, The main issues I have with engliush dubs is simple: the voice actors don't actually try to act, Any idiot can read lines off a script, but to actually act them and and get into the role of the character they play is somehing very few english voice actors actually do, and that is why I consider dubs in general to be gutter trash. IMO anyone who prefers them has to be unable to read or something.
Now I will admit for something like midbattle quotes I would prefer in english IF it doesn't sound cheezy as hell. Sadly it usually sounds even worse in english than it would in japanese, Can't count how many cringe moments i've had listening to battle lines in english. This is without even hearing the orignal japanese ones either, it just feels so bad that it makes me cringe. Xenoblade 2 anyone? Heard there were some god aweful english battle noises in that. Aniplex of America owns the distribution rights of the English dubbed anime in North America. Not FUNimation. No distribution company 'holds the rights to the english voices'. That's not how that works.Voice casting is generally done through things like voice talent agencies. Companies like FUNimation, who do the dubbing, will generally create a contract with the agency to voice a character that needs to be voiced in their animes.
Video game companies will generally do the same.-This is just my speculation, but I think one of the reasons why this game isn't dubbed is because it isn't big enough in English-speaking countries. The anime counterpart is also a relatively short series compared to the series that Bandi Namco usually records dubs for (Dragon Ball, Naruto).
